We sometimes get a second chance at things. But, never a second first chance.
Past remains past and we dwell there only in our minds. And only for short spells if we want to move forward. Whether a physical path or a path more spiritual or metaphorical, realizing when we cannot go back is freeing.
And it is a guidepost.
Many of us traffic for a time in regret, in wishing for other outcomes. This is natural. But, then we look forward to the business of making a life with what we have before us. At the very least, looking back becomes a matter of going forward in a new direction.
And at its best, going forward means confidence in our path and in ourselves.
